British boxer Anthony Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Fatal Road Accident

Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, local government spokespeople announced on Wednesday evening. The athlete was involved in a car accident outside Lagos on December 29th, a tragic incident that resulted in the deaths of two of his team members.

Under Observation for Minor Injuries

The boxer had remained in the hospital while healing from his light wounds, his promoter had said on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement online that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to leave and heal privately.

“The boxer and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two departed friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” Omotosho said.

Honoring the Deceased

The two men who died were identified as Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. It was also noted that the champion was filled with sorrow and overcome with emotion over the loss of his two dear friends.”

The news of his discharge follows the global fight fans had expressed its support for the champion in the wake of the devastating accident.
