The Simpsons Arrives in Rocket League: But It's Not the Car You're Hoping For

It was previously announced that the iconic animated series was collaborating with Fortnite, but this isn't the sole place where enthusiasts can experience the universe of Springfield. The beloved show is coming over to the popular soccer-driving hybrid, introducing an vehicle customization option that will also be usable in Fortnite. However, whether players will actually want to equip it is another question, as fans have their hearts set on just one Springfield vehicle everyone is eager to get behind the wheel of, and this new offering isn't that one.

The Dream Vehicle

Although most gamers would undoubtedly love to compete while driving Homer's custom creation—the notoriously impractical car the patriarch designed personally in the 1991 episode "the one where he meets Herb"—regrettably, that isn't what players are receiving. We aren't even receiving the massive SUV, the heavy-duty truck featured in the tenth season. Rather, fans are getting the Simpsons' standard well-worn four-door, which has been in the family since 1989. Though this specific vehicle has accumulated plenty of miles, it stands as an iconic symbol of the series. For those who analyze Rocket League car hitboxes, the trusty sedan shares the same hitbox as the Dominus body type.

More Than Just a Car

But that's not the only customization item from the show arriving in the game. The event will additionally feature a series of objectives to earn additional rewards, all of which are inspired by the show. As detailed in a official announcement, the missions will task players to "achieve a certain number of centers and clears as there are The Simpsons seasons, gather boost canisters as if your GPS is set to the Simpson residence, and travel a specific distance sufficient for picking up the perfect donuts!"

Although the complete list of earnable items hasn't been revealed, here is what's been announced so far:

  • Blinky antenna topper
  • Homer's hedge-themed banner
  • Garbage-themed wheels
  • 20,000 XP per challenge

If the key art is any indication, it appears fans will also receive wheels featuring a television showing the show's title sequence, alien antenna toppers, a frosted doughnut trail, and rocket boosts inspired by smoldering rubber and Krusty Burger.
